Welcome to Beattie Outdoor Productions. On this website you will find fly fishing photos, videos, and reports from around the world. The fishing season is in full swing and demanding most of our attention right now, but we will be posting new content as often as possible...While we may not have much time to write about what's happening, be on the lookout for lots of new photos and video.

New short vid from...uh, can't seem to remember the name of this small creek...I think we were in Wyoming? What can I say, some places need to remain nameless...Video here and some photos from a day trip to the North Platte.

NO, not an accidental hook up...We have the carp bug, bad.

Beattie Outdoor Productions made an excursion to Ascension Bay Bonefish Club for some fishing/filming in March.

The fishing conditions were a bit challenging for the first few days due to abnormally strong winds and high concentrations of clouds. However, Bonefish became a regular staple in our flats' diet, and we also had a few opportunities at the random barracuda, shark, jacks, snapper, and an occasional box fish. No real tarpon action to speak of except for the hundred + pound fish that randomly swam under the boat while we were searching for permit.

The weather improved as the week progressed, and on the final day, after numerous shots at schools of permit, I hooked a big permit that charged and consumed the fly only feet from the boat. The fight was a rough one; when the fish ate I struck hard, then flexed the 7wt down to the handle and waited to clear line...but the monster permit swam steadily over to a nearby ray and coasted confidently in search of another meal. It took roughly five minutes for the fish to realize that it was really hooked and then the forty minute fight began. Check the photos out here.

On behalf of our entire crew we would like to thank Winston and all of the judges of the 2008 film festival for awarding us 1st place and the opportunity to travel to Mexico. Thank you for supporting the fishing film movement!

We spent the fall working on a new conservation film about Steelhead in Washington State with Dave McCoy of Emerald Water Anglers. We will have more information online in the coming weeks, so check back. Watch some of the sample footage - Steelhead Sample Clips

Danubian salmon (Hucho hucho) is a salmonid species which lives only in the rivers of the Danube River System. One of the largest salmonid species, it can grow more than 1.5 m (4.92 ft) and it can weight more than 25 kg (55 lbs). A close relative of the Mongolian Taimen, the Hucho Hucho is not well known within the fishing community. A relatively healthy Hucho Hucho population exists within Slovenia but little is known about the exact numbers of fish inhabiting local waters. In the past decade, the Fisheries Research Institute of Slovenia has mastered the production of Hucho Hucho in the hatchery (with eggs taken from the wild population while spawning), increasing the numbers of fish in many river systems. Fishing for Danubian Salmon is strictly regulated and there is a limited catch of fish per river. Upon landing a fish, its sex, length, and weight must be reported. Read more...

We are currently funding a Marble Trout tagging program that was developed and implemented by the Fisheries Research Institute of Slovenia. The project began in the fall of 2007 when we (Fisheries Research Institute staff, Stan, and RA Beattie) measured, tagged, and released two hundred juvenile Marble Trout into a tributary of the Soca River that was utterly devastated by a massive landslide that destroyed the native population.
